WANT TO BE AN ENTREPRENEUR ? - 7 MUST HAVE TRAITS
I am Milind Sahanie,
10X Productivity Coach and founder of "New Skills for the New World"
Platform. My goal is to increase the revenues of 30000 Entrepreneurs by 10X in
next 5 years.
Being an Entrepreneur
has its own advantages. Here you are your own boss and can express your ideas
freely. There are no boundaries stopping you from reaching your Desires and Vision.
You become the owner of your own destiny. If you succeed as an Entrepreneur, you will not only make
profits for yourself but you will also make profits for businesses that are
associated with you. This is because Entrepreneurship generally promotes an
ecosystem of related business and with that the whole ecosystem benefits. There are
several examples in our country which all aspiring Entrepreneurs can take heart
from, Mr. JRD Tata, Mr. Dhirubhai Ambani, Mr. Azim Premji, , Mr. Narayan Murthy, Ms. Vandana Luthra, Ms. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw and the list can go on.
However, Entrepreneurship
is not for everyone. I am highlighting below 7 Essential Traits that every Entrepreneur should have. Check them out and decide if you fit in:
1. Are you a Visionary?
Entrepreneurs see opportunities everywhere and in everything. They are brimming with ideas. They find innovative ways to find solutions to problems and bring them to people. As a creative person you should be able to break the status quo in your market and make the people change the way they see the world. As a Creative person you should be able to create visions which normal people cannot do.
Entrepreneurs are Highly Motivated people and are ready to go any
lengths to make their dream project, their business a success. Not only they
need to be motivated themselves they also need to motivate others so that others can accept their ideas. Motivation helps their Self Esteem and gives them the required power to reach their desired objective.
Even if you have a Finance expert with you, an Entrepreneur needs to have Finance Management skills and need to control all decisions related to company money. Since
you are the one with the vision and idea, you are in the best position to make a
pitch with the bankers and financers and impress upon them how investing in
your vision will help them make money too. You need to be the one who should be
responsible to raise the required finance for your dream project. For this you need to have at least the basic understanding of Finance Management.
Risk Taking ability is an integral part of the very definition of an Entrepreneur. Entrepreneurship is about walking into an unknown territory which is full of uncertainty.
You should be willing to risk your time, money and other resources to things which you cannot foresee and anticipate. There are many decisions that are required to be taken just based on your gut feeling, your inner voice. You will not have the luxury of some historical data or statistics and other information to assist decision making because what you are trying to create is something very innovative, something very new. So every decision you take will always have some risk associated with it.
If you
believe you have all these above traits then there is a very good chance that you will become a successful Entrepreneur. Start challenging yourself and keep learning new
things. Don’t let others opinion change your inner thoughts. You will have your
Highs as well as your Lows. It is going to be hard work but that is the price
you pay for being successful. As Peter Drucker once said “ The Best way to
Predict Future is to create it”. So take a leap of faith and be the owner of
your destiny. Go on, Change the World.
